WATKINS GLEN, New York (June 30, 2026) - Lone Star Racing continued its strongest season to date in IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup GT Daytona (GTD) competition Sunday at Watkins Glen International where team drivers Scott Andrews, Lin Hodenius and James Roe Jr. drove the No 80 Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 to a top-10 finish in the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race.
Off to its career-best start to an Endurance Cup season, Lone Star is joined by the overall IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar GTD championship leaders as the only teams in the class to have completed every lap run to date in the opening 42 hours of IMEC competition at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Sahlen’s Six Hours.
Although the hard-earned 10th place result is the the team's lowest finish of the season after successive career-best results of sixth at Daytona and fourth at Sebring to open the year, the No. 80 team and drivers continued to hit their marks, maintain a competitive pace and pull off great in-race execution at The Glen.
“For sure, it could be more, but we showed that we had good pace," said AJ Petersen, Lone Star Racing Team Manager and Technical Director. "When we had the track position, we ran up front solidly, but at the end of the race things just didn't fall our way. We played the best hand that we had, which was 10th. We battled some fuel pressure issues in the closing laps, but we will take what we can get and go to Road America. I am really proud of James and Lin having never driven a GT car at The Glen, Lin having never been here at all. Both ran right to pace with only two practice session available to us, so a lot of positives to take away."

Stepping up to secure the top Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing result for the second consecutive IMEC race, the No. 80 team never looked back after advancing into the lead pack in the race’s opening hour when starting driver Roe picked up several positions
“I handed it to Lin in the top 10 and he got it to the front," Roe Jr. said. "We had one lucky yellow there that helped us out, but at the end there, strategy is everything. We had one yellow that probably fell on the wrong side, and we had a little issue related to fuel we were managing, so we had to go on the conservative side with fuel numbers. That didn’t help, but overall, it was very positive for us. This team just gets stronger and stronger. Speed isn’t an issue. Now it is more so just about tying all of the little things together to win. This class is so competitive. We have two good races coming up with Road America and Road Atlanta, so I am sure good things will happen.”
Hodenius, handling the middle driving stint in his track debut, moved up to second near the end of his shift, but a string of race-slowing cautions, a mix of strategies and some late-race mechanical gremlins ultimately made just staying on the lead lap and in the GTD top 10 a challenge.
Closing driver Andrews stayed in touch with the other pacesetters throughout his stint and ultimately took the checkered flag 10th in GTD, the final car on the lead lap and less than 50 seconds behind the class winners.

"This is just a huge track position race," Andrews said. "By the time he pitted after his second stint, James gained us a couple of positions, and then we had a perfectly timed yellow with Lin in the car. Then Lin just used his pace to put us in a great position. When I got in the car, we had a great driver change and a good pit stop. It was super comfortable, and I could straight away run good pace and the car was still raceable. We did have the fuel related issue that had us chasing some things on the pit stops, but we still managed to keep it on the lead lap and stay in the overall lead group for the finish."
The Glen race was the mid-season round of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup (IMEC) season, a championship within the overall WeatherTech season honoring the top performers in the year’s five endurance races. The year closes out with the inaugural 6 Hours of Road America in August and October's season-ending 10-Hour Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
The Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix 6 Hour race at Road America is scheduled for July 30 - August 2 on the four-mile road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
