MICHELIN GT CHALLENGE AT VIR

Aug 21, 2026, 12:00 AM – Aug 23, 2026, 11:50 PM
Braselton, 5300 Winder Hwy, Braselton, GA 30517, États-Unis
The Michelin GT Challenge at VIR is one of the purest tests on the IMSA calendar. A two-hour sprint on one of America's most technical road courses, this round strips endurance racing down to its essentials — no margin for error, no time to recover from a mistake, just relentless attack from the green flag to the checker.
About the Race
Set in the rolling hills of southern Virginia, VIRginia International Raceway is a driver's circuit in the truest sense. Its 3.27-mile, 18-corner layout combines blind crests, dramatic elevation changes and the legendary Climbing Esses — a high-speed sequence that demands absolute commitment and pinpoint precision. There is nowhere to hide here: the track punishes hesitation and rewards rhythm.
Over two hours, the challenge shifts from long-run management to flat-out execution. Qualifying position matters, pit stops are measured in tenths, and traffic on a circuit this narrow and this fast can decide the outcome. Track temperatures in the Virginia summer add another layer, putting tyre management at the heart of every strategy call.
Lone Star Racing at VIR
For the 2026 season, Lone Star Racing Team will contest the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR in the No. 80 Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the GTD class — carrying forward momentum from the season's endurance rounds into a format where outright pace and clean execution are everything. (Driver lineup will be confirmed closer to the event.)
